The best microphone cable ties EVAR

Best velcro microphone cable tiesMy pal Michael Capella turned me on to the best cable ties for microphones that I’ve ever seen.

They’re made of two-sided Velcro. Loop one end around the cable and pull it tight; the Velcro will snug up so the tie doesn’t slide around when the cable is in use.

The ties don’t rattle during a session. They don’t break when you step on them. They don’t take up any space to speak of. They’re long enough to tie up your longest cables. And they only cost about 9¢ apiece.

These things are a win all the way around.

Amazon sells 100-packs for under $10. That’s enough ties for your patch cords, power cords, and computer cords too, with some left over for you to, I don’t know, hang up some very small bass traps maybe? Well, maybe not that. Still, it’s the best $9.29 upgrade your studio will see this year.

Update: Sven of Foundation Recording Studio suggested in the comments to check out a rubber cable tie called “Wrap-n-Strap.” They come in 6-inch and 9-inch lengths and look like they’ll last forever. They’re a good bit more expensive — nearly $2 apiece — but they look nicer than the Velcro ties.

I got a mess of these at Home Depot. Saved my bacon on tour more than once.

I have hundreds and hundreds (and hundreds) of these in use and never go anywhere without at least a 50-roll in my bag. I challenge anyone who asks about them to find one cord or cable in my home that doesn’t have one on it. 🙂

I can’t stand the velcro ties. They are a PITA to work with, IMHO. I like the rubber Wrap-N-Strap way better. Of course they are $2 each in a 6pack. But worth it to me! …hate those velcro things…

I use these on everything. Picked them up at Meijer, and won’t ever go without them. Some of the older ones have tons lint and stuff on them now, but they’re cheap to replace its no big deal. Plus, my whole house/studio is hardwood, so…

I found that these little straps don’t get wrapped tight enough around cables when they come back to the shop. It makes the cables slip and they come undone anyways. If anyone knows where PRG gets their velcro wraps – please do tell – that is a whole different story in my opinion.

I absolutely love these ties. I have used many different types of ties before and nothing comes close to these. They are so thin yet strong enough to hold your cables and cords together neatly. I use them on headphones and charging cords and even computer cables.
